My favorite language is C++, I find it so darn effective at everything you need on a desktop. It's extremely powerful, and offers massive amounts of control. Also, you're able to link it to languages like Lua and Java, so if your base program is in C++, you can have special parts programmed in higher level languages. Also, I'm a big graphics guy, so C++ is one of the only options.

I use C++ basically because it's the only language I know in any capacity (and I'm still at a pretty basic level). However, having come from C++, I really enjoy how much easier and more convenient html and css are to use, although I know once I start trying to have some fun with it I'll realize how hard it can be.

Brainfuck anyone?

I like programming in C especially because of the great freedom - I really miss pointers and stuff in Java (one of the reasons why I don't like Java). C++ is good for huge projects like games, but I still prefer C for smaller projects and, of course, OS development.
