so this idiotic monkey decided to buy  MSI 990FXA-GD65 V2 and Seasonic S12II 620 Watts PSU

 

so this idiotic monkey decided to wait a day or two to confirm with friends now both are out of stock and on other sites its priced 30 $ higher and i will also have to pay 30 $ more for shipping :l 

 

luckily i was able to find the same psu on other site but they are showing 3 years warranty instead of 5 years i am now waiting to hear from them

 

the only other board i can buy currenty is MSI 970 GAMING 32GB  but its not 8+2 but 6+2 as per as seller info so my one and only question is should this idiotic monkey go with it > ?  will cost me 150 $ including shipping

Not entirely sure how big of a difference the phases translate into performance. More of a lifespan matter, imo, and the 970's components seem pretty solid to me from an electrical standpoint (I've done some light testing on my own motherboard and I've been pleased with my findings)

No. The question at hand was regarding an AMD board for a CPU the OP already has. Nobody asked for a platform alternative, nor has anybody mentioned anything about changing the CPU.

He did not ask if he should go AMD or Intel. He did not ask information regarding anything other than his choice of boards. To mention buying an h81 and i5 without even trying to enlighten him as to why he should, is just not helpful. 

 

When making a recommendation to someone, it is your job to properly inform them as to why you are suggesting it. Give them the Pro's and Con's of their current choice, against your suggestion.

I guess i took his "go away" remark as humor, not as a direct order in telling someone to leave. Still, he used no vulgarity or caps lock, so i also have to assume he was pretty calm when he refuted the claim that he was a fanboy. 

 

@OT:Since it has already been suggested, i will go ahead and lay down additional information for OP (@nomnom123qwe)

 

@arvark made the suggestion of an H81 board and i5 because the AMD FX 8350 would be a terrible option for gaming. I believe he made the general assumption that you would be gaming with this CPU, and he wanted to give you a better option for that purpose. H81 boards are cheap, and can support a stock i5 without needing a beefy VRM if overclocking is not your thing. Seeing how you actually understand what phases on the board are for, and the quality of board you are currently trying to invest in, i would personally make the argument that H81 might not be up your ally.

 

Since you did not make your intentions of this build clear, i will not try to sway you in any direction, because i do not know what you are trying to do with the hardware. If you were into video rendering or hardcore compression, i would probably keep the 8350 (assuming you already have one) as the only CPU to match it would require an i7, not an i5.

 

If gaming is your only intention, getting a cheap $80 Z97 board and an i5 will easily tide you over for a few years, or you can wait and purchase a skylake CPU for the Z170 platform features. Ultimately the choice is yours, and will depend greatly on your usage scenarios.

Well I heard the MSI 970 Gaming has 8+2 unless its a early model. Someone told me the 2.0 versions has 8+2! While 1.1 and 1.2 does not... (could be wrong but mine seems to have 8+2 phase so... I dunno what is going on but MSI homepage says the board may change depending on region and stuff)

To put it bluntly: more phases, more power.

The quality of the phase matters is the real deciding factor - I think. The reference 980 design is fine for air and water OC. But the custom design 980s (like the Classified and Hall Of Fame) will do much better when the card is kept cooler on phase change cooling for example.

Same thing applies. Several high quality phases will do a much better job of vdroop suppression and delivery than several crap phases.

Motherboards matter with Skylake and AMD processors. For an AMD processor 8 CPU phases would be fine for overclocking a 8350 to 4.8-5.0+. Providing those 8 phases are high quality and not made of paper.
