I am trying to start a YouTube Channel SIMILAR to linus' (25% Gaming 50% Tech %25 Whatever the viewer wants) , I, however am 11 years old. As my age implies, I can't get a job and fund the YouTube Channel. (Get and editing rig, camera, studio, etc) What should I do? Make a Kickstarter campaign?

I don't think anyone is going to watch you, only for the reason of your age.

Do not make a kick starter campaign unless you can offer a service people will like and you have done something good before that. 

 

Also their is enough YouTube channels out there

Due to your age, your not gonna be very popular or even relied on but don't give up work hard and eventually it will pay off.

Wait until you are a bit older.

You will be able to get a job to purchase necessary gear, and editing software.

Plus, I don't think people will want to watch you. Mostly because of your age.

For a person your age, a kickstarter campaign won't work, as sadly enough, people will look at your age and think it would be a bad idea, as stupidly people don't understand some young kids really do know what they are doing.

 

(I had a lot of the same issues as a young kid, I couldn't get good jobs because I was too young)

 

My suggestion is just do neighborhood work, as that is how I afforded my PC and peripherals.

 

As for the youtube channel, always start small. Because you might end up buying all of this gear only to not have a successful channel. So start small, if people like it, upgrade over time :)

To be honest, I don't care how much people think I am stupid for my age, because I am not. However, I can understand why someone thinks that. REALLY is kind of crap when everyone you know thinks you're stupid.

We don't think you're stupid, just wait until you mature a bit so that people will enjoy you a bit more

Plus the extra age means more opportunities for money, which means, more equipment so you can make higher quality videos

Don't do the Kickstarter thing. You'll get no money and people will laugh at you. Keep in mind that the only reason you should do a youtube channel is because you like to do videos, not to become famous. Gear-wise, ask your relatives if they've got an older point and shoot laying around, that you can borrow.

This doesn't have to do anything with society. A video is heavily depending on sound and its quality. If I click on a video and it's voiced by a kid, then I'm going to close it immediately. When you're 11 your voice isn't very nice to listen to, so keep that in mind

Not saying you were calling me one, but most people envision me as a normal kid who gets EVERYTHING from their parents. (Everything I get (Excluding things I need to live) is earned, and paid for by me)

you can start with whatever rig you have

use whatever camera you have near you

 

start with simple stuff and then as the channel grows and as you grow older you can start getting money for the other equipments

You could end up building an expensive rig and end up with a crappy youtube channel. That would SUCK.

 

 

Also, be sure you are 100% CERTAIN that you are willing to do all of the hard video editing, you know how to do EVERYTHING and won't stop for simple things, especially since you are going to put money into this. (But really, start small. If you actually do get big, get more gear from money you make)

If your goal is to have a youtube channel, then you have to work with what you have. You'll acquire skills, by making the videos. It doesn't matter if they look shit and take ages to render. You're training to make videos. This will become very useful when you're able to afford a proper camera and a better computer

Just because I have a $1500 Mac doesn't mean I'm spoiled, it means I worked hard for months until I could buy it.

Just because someone has something you don't have, doesn't mean they're a "spoiled brat" or a "rich kid". It just means they may be willing to work harder than you

I don't have anything that even classifies as a "rig", considering the pc comprises of IDE HDDs and FDD readers

I am positive I can video edit, problem is : No pc. I have been learning Adobe Premiere Pro on my Mom's work pc. (Don't tell anybody!)
