4770k, 770, 16GB RAM - What goes nice with the Asus Gryphon?

RoryLogue

Here is my build: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/rory182/saved/25UQ

The core components are already decided, although i'm not sure about the mobo, its either the gryphon or gigabyte board.

I will be buying custom PSU cables, if I go with the gigabyte, i'll probably get cables like this: http://i.imgur.com/ixpnwsi.jpg

Anyone have any other good ideas e.g. for the gryphon or any other motherboards?

Any advice appreciated, thanks

I'd bump from the pro to the normal 840 as the performance difference is negligible and change the 770 to a 7970 since they're nearly neck to neck to save money unless you require CUDA.

The rest of the build looks solid.

I'd seriously consider what @WoodenMarker said.

You could get away with a lower wattage PSU but nah leave it. Overall it seems a pretty solid build actually.

Get a 4670k and use that saved money for a better GPU like the 9XXX series when they come out. Get the Gryphon+ The thermal armor.

A 750w bronze is sufficient for 770 sli.

We're not sure what the OP's usage is here.

The 'thermal armor' is a waste of money like the sabertooth. and doesn't lend any performance.

Go SLI 760s and change to a 4670k...

We don't know if the OP is doing CPU intensive things so that might not be the best option.

Sorry but I never asked to change the core components...I'm using the i7 for video editing and other cpu intensive programs.

I'm looking for a colour scheme to match the gryphon tbh lol.

Yeah I know, I can just get one this for £3 cheaper so i thought why not.

That's fine. Extra headroom is always good as long as it doesn't break the bank.

Anyone know if I'm missing out on important features of a mobo with the http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-gaz87mxd3h?

Not really. It's sli/crossfire ready, has front usb 3.0, can overclock, and is sleek.

There are other options that appear on motherboards such as built in wifi, bluetooth, thunderbolt, etc. but I don't think you'll need them.

Sorry for asking so many questions, but will I have any problem connecting all these fans and controlling the RPMs via the mobo?

It all depends if the motherboards have a built in fan controller built into bios or now known as uefi like the ga-z87mx-u3dh.  Then there's the 5 1/4 inch bay manual fan controller which you manually set how fast each fan is

There are 3 system fan headers on the motherboard for your 2 case fans. You can control them through your bios. There shouldn't be any problems.
