About PCI-E x1 slot problems~

i hv a problem and quite a long story~

 

i hv bought a PCI-E x1 riser 20cmfor my sound card (ASUS Xonar DGX)

but my riser is not long enough~

 

Question is can i bought 1 more riser and double it?

Yes, you can. For high bandwidth risers, it can cause issues, but for 1x it should work fine.

It should not be a problem for something like a sound card.

 

It would only be a problem for high frequency, or high bandwidth components.

If you extend the datapath, you increase the travel / delay time; as a result, this could lead to data error / corruption.

 

This is why your computer DRAM (and VRAM) is so close to the CPU (or GPU) core...and this is why we have PCI-E X16 ribbon cable extensions, but none for your memory sticks.
