^you can turn off the fan when its watercooled and you usually can't see that side of the card once its in your system anyway

its a shame they're doing this to the 770 and not the 780...

Thanks a lot, I had almost forgotten about this horrible humpback thing.

And don't just post a link, if you're posting a news topic you're expected to put some sort of background in the text itself.

You should probably specify that this post is about release dates rather than ASUS introducing this (which they already did in Computex). Also, yeah it's pretty ugly IMO...

Looks terrible. Would rather get a reference 770 and buy a separate waterblock despite the extra cost.

I really dont know why they put this set up on a 770. While the 770 is a good card as good if not better than the 680 I think they should have done it on nvidias newest flagship card the 780.

PC Specs: CPU: Intel i7 4770K / CPU COOLER: Corsair H100i / Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 120Gig and Seagate Barracuda 1Tb / Motherboard: MSI Z97 Gaming-7 / GPU: EVGA GTX 780 SC ACX / Power Supply: SeaSonic M12II 850watt / Case: Corsair 750D 680 Coaster

My question is why hasn't Asus made a ROG 780 yet? By that i mean something along the lines of what they did with the 7970 Matrix.

Not sure. They have already released two versions of the 780 (if you don't count the reference one.)

True, but neither come close to the UBERNESS of the Matrix lol. The DC2 is nothing really special, just higher quality components and a little more power phases thats it. An ROG 780 should be comparable to EVGA's Classified or MSI's Lightning ie (binned gpus, more than 8 phases, overclocking features etc.)

7000 series released December 2011. Matrix 7970 got a preview at July 2012 and received reviews November 2012. I'm guessing a year or so unless Nvidia releases the 800 series. 7000 series had a longer lifespan.
