Space Journal #1: So Apparently i  was dropped on the moon like i'm a mars rover, in a matter of hours i have found the transformers on the dark side of the moon. Turns out its not that dark since dem robots are filled with lights, i waved hi to the Russians on the space station, turns out all those stories about space finding humans instead of the other way around is true(soviet Russia joke). They threw me some Heineken beer and I've been sitting staring at the people of this forum and earth since.

They're calling it Mac OSX currently. As to it being legal, it does go against the EULA. But Apple can't send you to jail for breaking it, nor can they know what platform you're putting it on.

It is not legal.  You cannot use the OS without accepting the license agreement, and using it on a non-Apple branded device constitutes breach of a legally binding contract, as well as use of software without license which could be put in the same boat as piracy since it infringes on the exclusive rights of the copyright-holder (Apple).

When you buy the Apple OS, you do not own the software.  When you pay the fee for it you are essentially renting it for life, and your license to use it depends on you following the terms outlined in the end-user license agreement.

It's not a criminal offense, but they can take you to civil court over it since it is a breach of contract.  If they feel like it.  That being said, they never feel like it, as far as the individual is concerned.  But they crack down on businesses that try to sell Hackintoshes.

I remember having some discussions a while back about software particularly the EULA, In Australia The EULA doesn't really mean anything, this is because we have interpretations of the law that essentially dismiss long and complicated legal contracts for domestic users.  In essence if apple tried to take legal action against a domestic user in Australia there is a very good chance it would be thrown out of court and apple told to re write their EULA.  The other problem with such EULA's is that the customer does not get to read or is requested to acknowledge the existence of the EULA until after the product has been paid for and opened, which makes getting a refund very hard.

liking macs =/= liking OSX necessarily. OSX is a very good operating system though, if you're not interested in games then I'd argue it's better than Windows because of its UNIX basis.

I'll refrain from arguing this time.... but if you've used OSX for a decent amount of time you'd know its merits  :)

It's easier to use than Windows, it's practically idiot proof. The OS is more complex and more intelligent than Windows, but oh well...

It is a lot less compatible, it is a less mature os than windows and It is much harder to use. People are born knowing how to use Windows.

All three of these points are incorrect.

Less compatible with what?

How is it less mature?

What about people that grow up using Macs or Linux?

Not many people use Mac's compared to windows especially when they are young. Less compatible with hardware. Ie Gpu's Motherboards that kind of thing and also Windows has been being used by Millions for longer than Apple so it has had a better chance to change to what it should be.

Except you don't buy a Mac to change the hardware, it's not part of the philosophy, really. They are designed to work out of the box, that's what they do. Mac's were used by more people before Windows, then the market shifted because Bill Gates started to sell licences to any manufacturer that wanted to use it on their hardware, starting with IBM. The only reason OSX isn't more widely used is because it's only available from one manufacturer. iOS and Android has worked exactly the same way. There's a history lesson for you  ;) I'm done discussing this with you if you don't want to recognise the reality. You cannot compare two products that are aimed at completely different audiences.  :)
