Annndd another project :D!

Bitfenix asked us to build 2 rigs for GamesCom 2015 in Cologne Germany.
Ofcourse we're super excited!
This is the first buildlog the other one ... is a secret ;) (for now)

We've chosen to use the Funky Blue Aegis with a display on the frontside.
The deadline is the 5th of august so we don't have much time left for two complete systems ;) !
So lets start !!

First a video we've made to show you what we are planning on doing!

The first packages to arrive, Thank you very much Richard!! :D

P5196088_zpskw4zruqi.jpg

P7076435_zpscstwtzpz.jpg

The first thing we are doing is flipping the case 90 degrees, and so the 'feet' have got to come to the 'front'.

P7126433_zpssqsjrzlk.jpg

P7126435_zpssktjlaq0.jpg

To fit an ATX motherboard in this Micro-ATX case we had to remove some material. To get the case steady again we added an aluminium profile and secured it with rivets.

IMG_1567_zpsgletiaez.jpg

IMG_1569_zpsik4g9lwg.jpg

Like it has always been there, after spray painting it black.

P7126445_zpssjgurt3i.jpg

P7126439_zpsi6xdvub4.jpg

The eye-catcher of this build is the Bitfenix Fury Powersupply which has a very nice topcover! Looks very neat!

P7076403_zpspitxipf5.jpg

This is just a quick preview of the layout for the case.

P7136459_zpsjps6gvwu.jpg

P7136463_zpsg20cxfdh.jpg

Next update will be a lot of 'case-management' ;)

Because today I'm really in the 'Update'-mood.. Yes, another Update ;) !

In the last post I didn't really mention the motherboard we are going to use.
So this is the one, it was in the price package for Polar (lucky me :D).

P7076384_zpsekysipkr.jpg

P7076387_zpsqtpdil4f.jpg

Cut out wooden panels with a lasercutter to fit in- & outside the case.

P7076392_zpsnb8o1fkd.jpg

P7076394_zps6krefkmb.jpg

The great thing about the Spectre PRO fans is the two-part frame. You can take them apart easily.
The fans will then be mounted inside the panels. It almost look like speakers, don't you think?

IMG_1592_zpslx7x0pfd.jpg

IMG_1593_zpshtzvglyu.jpg

Using a file to give an edge to the wooden panel so it will fit together nicely.

IMG_1595_zpsiq2xqqju.jpg

P7196552_zpsgmh0fpxj.jpg

Cut out a big hole on the backside of the case. This will be covered up with the 'Aegis' panel that was cut with the laser. Air can flow through the Bitfenix logo out of the case.

IMG_1602_zpswz3qy05q.jpg

P7196547_zpsob8qmcje.jpg

P7196548_zpslcjtwrlh.jpg

Made a small attachment thingy (bracket?) haha

IMG_1603_zps5b4kena0.jpg

P7196550_zpsfwc6nulo.jpg

This is what it looks like now with a lot of the panels in place.

P7196541_zpst0d7qdfv.jpg

And here is just one quick shot with the power supply! :)

Netjes! Is it going to be a completely open-air case like Polar, or will there be a windowed side panel of some sort?

Dankjewel ;) ! We don't want to give in on the usability of the case so we will be using the original panels, but modify them of course :).

Thanks guys :) !
So, another quick update, after the Gamescom stress officially has started to kick in ;)

P7076397_zpsmnybzyj7.jpg

IMG_1593_zpshtzvglyu.jpg

I took the Bitfenix Spectre PRO Fans out of there frame and used a file to round all the edges, so the fans will fit nicely into the wooden frame.

P7196537_zpsyxq8rqij.jpg

P7196535_zpsctibimww.jpg

Below you can see the wooden frames for the fans they will be places on both sides next to the MB.

P7196533_zpsxc1mshrc.jpg

P7296696_zpsxr3wyzcd.jpg

Ofcourse Pixel has to check if it is done correctly.. (maybe there are any sunflower seeds there, you never know...)

P7296699_zpsuis1bicz.jpg

This is a rough idea of what it will look like (you just need some imagination ;))

P7206554_zpsozssyehw.jpg

Small aluminium brackets to hold the wooden frames with the fans in place.

foto%206_zpsbdf7dqk9.jpg

foto%204_zpsl1m2drbi.jpg

foto%205_zpsql82akyh.jpg

These are all of the frames that need to be painted black on the backside and wrapped in black self adhesive foil on the front.

P7296702_zpsb2btuzhd.jpg

P7296704_zps3pt5d1sc.jpg

That was it for today, next update is the self-adhesive-foil-adventure (sounds so exciting.... <_< )

After a short break I'm back :) !
Gamecsom was awesome! It was a crazy busy week (and the week before of course, finishing everything ;) ), but completely worth it!!
I was so happy I survived the teenage zombies and..I've made a short 'after' movie!

And a few pictures of the Aegis and the Atlas, the other build I'm working on! (more about that one in his own new buildlog..comingsoon)

P8067001_zpsprlrm4wf.jpg

IMG_0607_zpseklsr8ga.jpg

P8067009_zpsusbwi41y.jpg

Now, On with the buildlog because I've made a lot of pictures!

Ok where were we again..
Applying the self adhesive foil (Pixel was completely obsessed with the plastic tool to straighten out the foil ;)

P7296708_zps2fhctrmx.jpg

You can't really see it here on this picture, but on the backside of the plexiglas you can see the foil opening up. Doesn't look very clean so I've added some black cardboard to the back of the letters which made it look really good!

P7296713_zpsrsgihyv4.jpg

P8026848_zpsg4b2rulg.jpg

P8026850_zpsvppmi7kn.jpg

Also the SSD's get their own very special place ;)

foto%201_zps5judlpqo.jpg

foto%202_zps0rq7oyky.jpg

foto%204_zpsi35q1ou7.jpg

The SSD's and some lasercut fluor edge plexiglas to go with them (still need some work so don't worry)

Dat was a great nidalee cosplay :o

@TopicClocker, Is the PSU painted blue or is it just the lightning? Great build/mod btw  very unique :D

Haha Yes loads of cosplay there! I really enjoyed that, a lot of really cool costumes! :D

No the PSU is still Black, I didn't paint it. because of the blau LED lights it looks blue! I will upload more pictures later where you can see it clearly without the LED light :) !
