Ok, so I figured I would make this thread for all of the new PC converts, and even for some of the guys/gals that have been here for a while. I have very recently switched from consoles, and have been looking for PC parts, but of course I had a very set budget, or so I thought. I originally sold my Xbox one for $400. I had already had a build picked out on newegg, and was about to buy it, but then I decided to scan my local craigslist postings. I made the right choice that day, where I found a rediuclous deal. I saw, and have now purchased an i7 3930k, an Asus Rampage IV Extreme, 16gb of corsair vengeance ram, and an EVGA nvidia GTX 780 Classified for $550. I also saw a r9 290x for $200, and ar9 280 for $150. The whole point of this post was to tell everyone that craigslist is a good place to start, and to find things cheap. I have friends that are all about buying new, and that's fine, but I see no point in paying more than you need. So before you buy all that shiny new hardware for $1000+, look on Craigslist and see if you can save a few hundred dollars. Thanks for reading

Nice finds! I also like browsing local second hand stores - many of my monitors came from there before I had the money for "nicer stuff". Heck, I have a 24 port Gigabit network switch I paid $15 for. There were two, so I bought two and sold one for $90!

tldr conclusion pls?

Just read it. It took 20 seconds for me to read it.

Something else I meant to say was that the first thing you think of isn't always the best. I haveeasily gone through a few hundred different builds that I thought I was gonna get before I found that combo n craigslist. Always keep your mind and ears open so you can see what the best items for the price are, or what is better, but cheaper. And don't find one thing and then be hell bent on getting if. Look around and make sure it is what you really want first

I got an XFX 280x from eBay for $200 CAD (was $350 at the time)

I also got my Zowie AM for $35

Nice find. I guess this was more for people that only think new things can be good. Not for those of us that already search super hard for those really good deals

Those are the best, when you buy stuff and then make a profit from them. Love it

I can save a few hundred dollars by going to Microcenter ;)

funny af

you just got extremely lucky on Craigslist, there aren't very many of those deals around here

people are idiots, selling systems with 650's and such, people have no idea how to build a balanced PC in New York, ffs they put AMD processors with Nvidia cards, you shouldn't spend the extra money on Nvidia, spend it on a 270x/280/290 ect.-.
