Looking for high resolution monitor for under $400

Go to solution Solved by o0Martin,

im looking for a high resolution 27" or bigger gaming monitor under $400.i like higher resolution over high refresh rate.

and no bigger than 30" as my desk wont fit anything bigger.

i like rpgs like the witcher and dragon age.

i have a Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming GPU

can you help me?

I assume by high resolution you mean you want a 1440p monitor right?

You could get an Asus PB278Q for your price range, it's probably the best one tbh:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009C3M7H0/?tag=pcpapi-20

That's 27", 2560x1440, IPS Panel (PLS)

You'll get amazing colours and viewing angles from that along with a high res! (Although your 970's may start to have issues powering some games at 1440p, just turn down/off AA and you should be okay in most games, and a few other settings if needed.)

If you wanted something cheaper, maybe the

Acer K272HUL (http://www.amazon.com/Acer-K272HUL-bmiidp-27-inch-Widescreen/dp/B00JB6HCIC)

It's a good price, and same base features as the Asus. Either way I would recommend an IPS Panel at your price point to get the best possible colours.

i own this. i was able to overclock it to 120hz and its an amazing monitor. as long as you dont have to return it.

a single gtx 970 really isnt able to run high refresh rate 1440p though. i run 2 of them and sometimes i have a hard time in newer titles

yeah refresh rate don't matter as much to me as high resolution so i wouldn't need to overclock the monitor.

yes 1440p or 4k if its possible.

can i just overclock my GPU if that happens?

also can i get a couple more suggestions for monitors in between $450-350 at 4k or 1440p?

i might sli my GPU's in the future!

thanks in advance for all the help!

Yeah sure you can overclock your GPU, tbh a 970 can overclock to a stock 980, so you should be fine with 1440p, and at 1440p you don't need AA settings anyway because it makes such a small difference compared to 1080p. So should be good to go.

If you SLI your 970 you'll be getting 980Ti performance (Although with the 4GB of vram) so you could push 4k nicely, just maybe not a heavily modded skyrim or something cos you'll run out of vram aha

As for suggestions between $350-450, you'd want to try and bump it up to 4k at that point because the Asus PB278Q is amazing and priced lower (For 1440p).

In which case the only IPS one at 4k and 27" close to your budget of $350-450 would be the Acer B276HK (http://www.microcenter.com/product/445099/B276HK_27_Ultra_HD_4k_Display)

Or you could remove IPS and get a TN Panel for cheaper (At the cost of colour accuracy and viewing angles)

Then you could get something like the Acer B286HK which is pretty much the non IPS version of the one above and just in the $350-450 price range (http://www.amazon.com/Acer-B286HK-ymjdpprz-Widescreen-ErgoStand/dp/B00MN2OKKO)

Or maybe even the AOC U2868PQU which is very nicely priced! (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/aoc-28-led-4k-uhd-monitor-black/1206341.p?id=1219478144522&ref=199&loc=8BacdVP0GFs&acampID=1&siteID=8BacdVP0GFs-kTRYt5qNSxjECdN0VWw0eg)

I'd stay away from the Dell P2815Q though seems to be littered with bad reviews and issues, even though it is a 4k display.
