Difference between a firewall and anti-virus?

What exactly is the difference?

I don't like 2D games...I just couldn't get into them.. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Firewall is protection that prevent untrusted network connections.

Anti-Virus is protection that scans and deals with untrusted or hazardous software.

To make it even simpler. Firewall protects your PC from hostile takeovers. AV protects it from software that is intended to harm your files and OS, eventually making it either unusable or ready for hostile takeover.

Semi on topic...

Contrary to popular belief, most home users have zero reason to open ports on their router/firewall.

Also, No general need for any firewall beyond that which comes with Windows - assuming you keep windows up-to-date.

I would actually argue most consumers probably don't need the Windows Firewall at all because their consumer router likely has one built in. Whether it is enabled or properly configured is another matter... but in most cases it is enabled.
