My guess is that the card has an OS X compatible BIOS (and it also comes with the power cables that the tower Mac Pro uses for GPUs.) Believe it or not, GPU compatibility with OS X on Mac Pros is sometimes hit or miss.

but he clearly just put a 2005 apple sticker on the back and cut out an apple logo in the box. because one of the photos does not show the apple sticker on the card in the place it is on the other picture.............

He's not entirely wrong. The Mac Pro uses a D700, which is basically a FirePro W9000, which is basically an HD 7970, which is basically a 280X.

You still don't get the same drivers and certifications the D700/W9000 will get but it's running the same GPU.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.
