Will this speed up my phone?

I was wondering if moving my apps and everything to a micro SD card would speed up my phone because the internal storage would be empty except for things that you can't remove. I have an AT&T LG G3.

Why not?

even if you move apps to your SD card as long as they are still working in the background your phone will be slowed down, so either disable app notifications (some apps can still work in the background) or remove them.

No, because sd cards are much slower than internal storage.

Root and install a custom (preferably AOSP) ROM. The lag you're experiencing is caused by LG's UI and rather mediocre optimization. Once I installed CM12.1 on my G3 it was butter smooth.

I cannot root my phone because I'm with AT&T.

Then there's not really much you can do, because as stated the lag is being caused by LG UI and without getting rid of that you won't be getting rid of any significant amount of the lag you're experiencing.

If you root your G3 it'll have Superuser installed (like if you jailbreak iPhone it has Cydia)

 

If you install a custom ROM like CyanogenMod it becomes even more obvious cause the software looks nothing like the original

Why couldn't I just reset it so they can't tell anything has changed?

Why would being on AT&T have an influence on whether you can root or not? You should always check XDA to see if there is root available for your phone.
