Will I Bottleneck?

Will an i7 4790k bottleneck two 980 ti's in SLI? Would it bottleneck one of them? I've seen GTX 970's running fine on a pentium g3258 so surely the set up I'm thinking about is completely fine

No of course not. Maybe in some extreme scenarios not in general gaming use especially if you play at high resolutions.

The 4790k is a beast, and could easily handle them. FYI the g3258 really isn't enough for a 970 for future reference.

- The Pentium will bottleneck SLI GTX 970, it will even bottleneck a single 970

4790K is beast, as the others said. There are many different environments, but in gaming, you should be fine with up to 2 GTX 980ti's in SLI, having 3 in SLI will still probally work just fine imho.

Well, of course a third one will bottleneck cause it'll be running off the motherboard chipset and not directly to the cpu
