390 is mostly better performing than 970, what you expect...

... ~2% Better while consuming ~20% More power? Gotcha...

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

Not at 1440p and 4K.

nice made up percentage anyway though

... It's not tho... Their is literally a ~3.3% difference in stock speeds at 1080p...  2.04% When Overclocked (Where I got the 2% difference from)...

https://youtu.be/k9cKZiJw6Pk?t=8m47s

The fire strike score difference is ~1.6% ._.

Very made up right? The formula for percent change isn't real.

It's more like the 390X and 980 make no sense to buy due to poor price to performance.

I agree, the 980 and the 390x are not worth it over the 970 and the 390. The 980 is in a worse situation in my opinion.

Edit: Looking over it again, neither the 390x or the 980 make any sense to me.

The 980Ti however is worth every single dollar, 40% 3dmark over the 980 and 63% over the 970. Not to mention it's a beast to overclock and it's memory is extremely fast and in abundance. Guru3D managed a 7818 memory clock on theirs, effectively putting the memory bandwidth at 375GB/s

7818MHZ * 384 bit buss width / 8 = 375GB/s bandwidth.

technically speaking it's just 2 approaches to the same conclusion.

neither is better than the other. both have pros and cons.

a simple generalisation. is that amd cards are hot loud and power hungry, but give great bang for buck.

where as nvidia are slightly more refined and costly for a slightly smoother experience.

but nobody would buy either or companies card and think they're hard done buy.

I've had loads of amd and nvidia cards and im not backing either company consistently.

just a few example. my x650 gpu was an epic bargain that held its own for years. my 8800gt was a work of art that just kicked ass.

my 6950 was a steal at its price point and lasted me years without issue.

and my gtx770 overclocked so well it lasted me much longer at 4k than I'd ever have imagined.

buy what's in budget that performs the best. not choose just because of the brand.

I waited for the fury x to come out, it wasn't as good as the 980ti so I bought one. if the fury x was the better option I'd have had one of them instead.

I call BS on that. In 4K especialy 390 CF nails 970 SLI to the wall.

... And when before this post was SLI/ CF mentioned?

I can't even find any 390 CF vs  970 SLI benchmarks to begin with...

thats just because CF nails SLI to the wall in almost every case there is. It just scales better, and in general, has just as good, if not a tiny fraction better driver support.

Mantle is dead and Nvidia stuff barely is worth it unless you MOST have perfection. :P

Yet AMD still gives much better bang for buck on they GPUs over Nvidia... :(

And well Nvidia have also had the 3.5 GDDR5 + 0.5 DDR3 when it clearly is marked 4GB of GDDR5 and well they screwed up by promoting Batman...

Thanks for the input and the link guys, it's much appreciated.

I've decided I'll just go with AMD (Same choice as before)

As for the title, I chose it after careful thought and consideration as I know many children like to get their knickers in a twist over such touchy subjects. I figured I'd get the best feedback if I united everybody against my title-naming skills, than leaving it to a pure AMD vs NVidia war, where both sides just throw around stereotypes about the other.

Shots fired shots fired! Hide before North-Korea joins with their nukes! :D

edit: if you can't decide between 2 cards, get the one that looks best, exept if there is an EVGA card, if there is, get that :D

One day North Korea might have more nuclear weapons than Saddam Hussein.

OP needs to get some slapping for making such title.
