Yes I know it's over budget but I don't know what kind of GPU you'll be needing. A 750ti may very well max out that game so yeah.

What are the benefits of H97 over H81 other than instant compatability with haswell refresh.

Much much more features and also supports broadwell while h81 doesn't.

This is my child of weeks of reseRch for my own build, cut down a bit for your budget. The 960 could be swapped out for an r9 380 if you want a bit more raw performance, in exchange for features, heat and power output, etc. Also change to a 500W PSU if doing so.

An i3 handles itself well in games. Also r9 280x > gtx 960. Also in swtor there isn't going to be that much of a difference between an i3 and an i5 since it can't utilize the i5's two extra real cores.

the gtx 960 cant play 1080p ultra at 60fps, the 280x can. and an i3 doesnt even bottleneck a 970.
also coupled with a terrible case and psu, my build will be more upgradeable. the psu cant support much more than the 960.

but you can modify it and add 5 quid to fit an i5

Thanks all for the help, Clarified that I need an i3 along with some other parts. Also how does the 285 compare to the 280x because 285's can be found new for £130

Maybe not in that, but in pretty much everything else there will be. Building a computer for one game is stupid, your tastes WILL change before the computer is used up, then you will be crying with your dual core. The 280X is also not too much better than the 380. Don't go on about VRAM, at 1080p it really doesn't make a difference, and tbh if you are using a 2/380 for 1440p/4K you are stupid.

Example: My computer I am building is built for gaming. Currently I am mainly into minecraft and a few steam games. Minecraft benefits from single core performance, so getting myself a G3258 and OCing it would be best for that, rather than an I5. But I know of at least one other game that has taken my interest, so I am building a more well rounded computer. See my point?

it's definitely weaker, the 285 (=380) trades blows with the 960, maybe a little a stronger then that but still

PSU is more of a placeholder than anything, upgrade to an EVGA 500W if you want, for £3. As for case, what is wrong with it? Anyway, upgrade ability is something of a moot point. You can make any half decent PC last for like 5 years by slowly turning down the graphic settings. Anything medium or above looks absolutely fine. IMHO.

380 beats the 285 by like 3-5FPS, also heat/power is lowered. Refresh, not rebrand. Go see JayzTwoCents latest video. (Not the software one)

Got a point, however do keep in mind he did spend some more money on other parts which increased the price. However If i was op I would get @Alurit 's build.

This is what I've come up with for slightly over, if I need to upgrade mobo/cpu it will be to an overclockable board so might as well go for h81. Also I feel that an SSD is needed and I want to run games on it, I have a 400gb drive lying around for other games.
