isn't this kinda of a BS thing for steam to do?

snoop doggie dogg

so i was gonna buy a chroma 2 key from csgo which is 2.49 and at the time i had only 4 cents left in my wallet, so i went to add funds to my wallet and i noticed that the minimum amout i could add is 5$ so technically i have to spend 5$ for a 2$ item. Why does steam do this? i can understand why the max amount you can add is 100$ so people can't hijack your account and charge thousands of dollars but why can't i add less that 5$? there's alot of items that cost less than 5$. i know it's just 5$ but it's still a waste of money, what is your opinion? personally i think there should be a custom amount of funds to add button (that doesn't go over the 100$ for reasons i said earlier).

adding less is probably poor value on transaction prices for steam, since now it's free for you to add it.

You can buy it straight with a card or paypal. You don't need to use the steam wallet, or add funds to the wallet.

The $5 minimum is because it costs too much to charge anything less. Credit card companies charge a percentage of each transaction. It's also why you have credit/debit minimums at stores.

This would have been my answer as well. For same reason min subscription to these forums is $5CAD per month.

And original Steam crate keys were $€2.49 piece so you'd get 2 with single deposit.

Yeah, I had this problem back when I played CSGO.  Always blew my mind that I had to have the money in my wallet instead of straight off my credit card.

idk why people buy keys..

i started with the 5 dollar transfer to steam account after a friend bought me csgo, since then ive done nothing but sell things i dont like, and buying skins i do like, and buy operations

with this i have about 15 dollars skins and 20 dollars funds, if i was buying keys id have nothing but a lost $5

i like the randomness of it also it makes my skins feel more special :3 and there's always the chance that i will get something expensive

honestly if you don't make your own money, you should not be spending it on cs go keys.
