Speedtest refusing to run with adblock enabled?

Works just fine for me with AdBlock on Chrome

They are probably testing methods in the beta to block adblock.

1. Good on them

2. Looks like it's working lol

1. Good on them

The amount of shenanigans that takes place in those banners is not really good for anyone. Lots of malicious software gets distributed through those things, and an equal amount of adware and tracking. I don't see the appeal of ad-revenue, and even the channels I visit don't get any from me. If the service stops working with adblock, I stop visiting. Like Zero Punctuation recently. I'll wait a week for it to pop up on youtube.

I'll buy a shirt or something, or use an affiliate link.

Also, I like how in that message they dance around the fact they just want to get paid.

Are you using the beta site? beta.speedtest.net

Yea... it's kinda disgusting the kind of ads they run. So many "click here to speed up your computer" or "click here to speed up chrome"

When I go to that site I get redirected to speedtest.net and I can do the test just fine.

Well yeah.... Are you paying for the use of their service? Didn't think so.

While a small proportion of users would pay for the use of their service, how many do you think would do it? 1%? 0.1%? I'm not sure what speedtest's overhead is, but I'm sure it isn't zero.

A business has a right to make money, simple as that, while you and I might wish they would find some other way, this is the revenue model they have decided upon, your choices are either to use their service, and put up with their adds. not use their service, and send an email to them explaining thus....Or whinge and bitch on some completely unrelated forum, so nothing actually gets done, but you feel all warm, and fuzzy inside.

Well, I'm not exactly complaining. I'm just saying that their beta site might be preventing itself from running if it detects an adblock software. I could always use isp speedtests that uses their service anyways. Charter's has no ads at all. Their website looks really good if it weren't for the ads though....
