Will a launcher help improve battery life?

This is probably a stupid question but by downloading the Google Now Launcher on my LG G3, will it improve the battery life?

No.

 

Closing background programs and putting your phone in airplane mode when you're not using it or even turning it off will though.

Why would using another program somehow save battery life...

No, it won't.

 

Your best bet is disabling unwanted apps, turning down the display brightness, turning off connectivity features when not in use and other stuff.

 

And no. Those battery saver apps don't do shit.

For me, it did. I am running a Sony Xperia Z3 Compact and using Smart Launcher Pro 3. Over Nova Launcher or the stock Xperia launcher, Smart Launcher improves battery life slightly.
