4K and 3440x1440 visual difference in games.

Metro

No i havent, but i completely comprehend how awesome it is. However, 4k is irrelevant to me. The highest resolution 21:9 is all that counts. Once you game on 21:9, you get that mindset.

How visually different is it from 1080p

well 4k is 3840x2160, its higher both in vertical and horizontal pixels ... sooo 4k is better regardless :) its worth the investment if you have the gpu horsepower.

Would have to GREATLY disagree with the use of the word "better."  The 21:9 aspect ratio (3440x1440) is so much more immersive than the standard 16:9 and is much easier to run than 4k.

As someone that has gamed in BOTH resolutions I will...now and forever...always pick 21:9.

How much of a difference is 1440p and 4K to you in games.

I didn't care too much for 4k at all.  The pixel density was okay but to be honest..even at 28 inches (the size of the 4k monitor I had) I really wasn't all that blown away by it.  Not to mention, it certainly wasn't worth the price of the monitor to have such a huge performance impact.  The 3440 x 1440 is much easier to run than 4k's 3840 x 2160.  That's about 53% fewer pixels to push.  When I had a single 980...I was able to play most of my games at maximum settings still with no problem at 21:9 1440p.  At 4k..nope.

As I mentioned earlier 21:9 is so much more immersive.  I will never go to another aspect ratio.  If you do go with ultra-wide though go with 3440x1440 and NOT 2560x1080.  You get so much screen real estate at 1440p and the pixel density looks really nice in games.

If you could run a 4K monitor with two GPUs and get 60 FPS and the price is not a problem, would you still go with 3440x1440 for gaming.

If it's the only Ultrawide option, then yes.  21:9 is love.  21:9 is life.

But kidding aside, 3440x1440 is still a beast to run on current hardware because the added width essentially makes it like running a 2560x1440 and a 1920x1080 panel concurrently.  With 4K and two GPUs, you might be able to run all but the most demanding games at 60FPs but with 3440x1440, you actually have the ability to achieve 60fps in pretty much everything.

So, I might get the ACER Predator one or the ASUS 3800R, which would you choose for your monitor.

You cannot, the Predator comes out next month and the ASUS 3800R does not have a release date but we will get more information in Q3

my xb280hk says 4k UHD on the box lol as well as 4k2k. So i think even those who are creating them have it confused.

Gaming PC: • AMD Ryzen 7 3900x • 16gb Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3200mhz • Founders Edition 2080ti • 2x Crucial 1tb nvme ssd • NZXT H1• Logitech G915TKL • Logitech G Pro • Asus ROG XG32VQ • SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless

21:9 > all, anyone who has played on 21:9 will agree

so, the max resolution you can get now is 3440x1440...

and looking forward to 5120x2160

I was actually waiting for someone to say this. I was hoping I didn't have to be the one to do it. Yea... 16.9 is dead to me. After going Ultrawide, I will never go back. More detail does not equal, or for that matter, even come close to legitimately seeing more of a scene in my opinion. I'm waiting for a great Ultrawide 120hz panel that doesn't cost a small fortune... that will be fantastic.
