What would you pick? NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti or AMD Radeon R9 Fury X?

The title says it all. What would you pick?

 

Both are top-tier cards, and both pack a lot of punch and both are $650 (a price drop for the 980 Ti is rumored, though).

 

Differences are that the 980 Ti has 6GB of GDDR5 and the Fury X has 4GB of HBM (a new type of graphics memory). The 980 Ti is also air-cooled while the Fury X is water-cooled.

 

Personally, as much as I love the Fury X, after seeing all the benchmarks, I'd say 980 Ti for now.

 

HBM is still really new and I think it's worth it to wait it out a bit to see how it improves over time. Hopefully, AMD sticks around by then.

If the Fury X would have more Vram i would choose it, But it doesnt

I'm still deciding on which of the 2.

 

I'm liking the Fury X, but I'm going to hold out to see how HBM will improve.

 

I'm leaning towards the 980 Ti at the moment, but maybe there might be a surprise.

I kind of see the Fury X like the S6 Edge: Works well, but kinda gimmicky. I'll stick with the more traditional 980Ti.

Fury x does have 4gb of vram. But remember those amd people talked about improved async. Async will make resource available while gaming.

I want to keep on AMD side ffs. But Im more and more enticed to switch back to green team. I'm starting to have trouble sleeping with the rather loud noise of full speed fan of my 295x2. I don't think I can handle the high pitched noise of the fury x.

I'm waiting for the 980ti kingpin or rather a 980ti g1 price drop (since it's rumored) for the 4th of July holidays, and Amazon's 20th year anniversary this 12th.

They did say that only hbm1 earlier version will only have 4gb. The later versions will then get 8gb.

Just wait for the Fury X drivers to not be wank and then hopefully DX12 will give it a major kick in the spuds
