Loudest Part in Your Rig?

jamesisninja

My old crappy harddrive at idle, and PSU under load.

When in doubt: C4

WD Black under load *sadface*

And failing to act, for fear of the risk, is no different than a living death. No matter what world you’re in.

In my Pentium 4 rig:

Unusually, the hard drives spinning makes an terrible amount of noise (I think the majority is from the Maxtor drive though). The second on the list is the tiny fan on the GeForce 2 GTS. The Maxtor hard drive can make some nasty grinding noises when it's busy though.

During idle, it's probably my Noctua NF-S12B FLX case fans. The question remains, does this mean that those fans are noisy, or that everything else is very quiet?

During gaming, it's definitely the fans on my graphics card. Although then the fans on my radiator speeds up as well, and the overall noise level of the system goes up noticeably.

On idle it's the graphics card.  During gaming it's a tough call.  The graphics card definitely makes more noise than it does at idle, but that's not the only noise.

When my CPU reaches gaming temps, all my case fans kick in.  The fans themselves are pretty quiet, but the wind noise is just biblical.  This is one CM "Storm" that's living up to its name.

Even though my fans can be loud at times, at least they have a relatively consistent hum. The clicking of my hard drive is much more noticeable.
