How many years to keep PS2 before selling it

asim1999

Once PS2s become scarce, that's when they'll become collectible and expensive. One could argue that they are already collectible, but I'm speaking in terms of an actual, vintage, collector's item, like maybe an original Nintendo Entertainment System. I plan on keeping my PS2 as long as I can, as well as my 70+ games (and counting) for it.

I see PS2s being sold at Value Village for $20-$40 quite often, so they're not very expensive, and there's plenty out there. I'd say that the newer PS2s will be more expensive right now, as they're in better condition than older ones. I'm pretty sure the PS2's production was ended in 2013.

I have no signature. There is nothing to see here. Move along.

Or should i download a PS2 emulator and download a BIOS off the internet to play all the games that i have?

If that's your system in the sig and you've an ODD, you can get PCSX2 and even turn settings up.

This is a signature.

All the years.

No seriously, the fact that there were a lot of PS2 units sold, and you can even get new ones, that isn't going to help xD.

A Dreamcast maybe, but not a PS2 that's for sure.

The stars died for you to be here today.

A locked bathroom in the right place can make all the difference in the world.

They will never be rare. And even when they do become rare, they are basically worthless...

Considered selling an old original nintendo some years back...It was over 20 years old, and they don't really fetch a huge price.

There is not exactly a lot of demand.

The Mistress: Case: Corsair 760t   CPU:  Intel Core i7-4790K 4GHz(stock speed at the moment) - GPU: MSI 970 - MOBO: MSI Z97 Gaming 5 - RAM: Crucial Ballistic Sport 1600MHZ CL9 - PSU: Corsair AX760  - STORAGE: 128Gb Samsung EVO SSD/ 1TB WD Blue/Several older WD blacks.

I just picked up a PS2 Slim in prestine condition for £30 on eBay.

They sell for super cheap; at least here in the UK.

I had a PS3 just for playing PS1 and PS2 games (original 60GB model) - but it died a sad YLOD death, with repair attempts failing.

So I just got a PS2 for all my fav games of that era.

Strangely enough though PS2's and PS3's go for about the same price on eBay. (obviously depending on condition and what people are selling at any given time) - But still I find it funny that I bought the 60GB PS3 for £30, and now I just got a PS2 for the same price.

PS3 was in good condition, fully working (without box) with 1 game.

PS2 in near-new condition (with box) and 3 games.

It's going to be a long-ass time yet before the PS2's are worth anything.

I know the dev-PS1's (blue model) go for quite a bit, like £100 or so.

Basically going to have to wait until the PS2's are "rare" enough to be worth anything @asim1999 :)
