I'm 16 years old, play a lot of games and blah blah blah. My 50 year old mom has never really played games before but I'd like to show her something that she'd find interesting. She's 50 years old and is probably kind of skeptical because of the media constantly attacking video games. She won't like anything with blood but anyway, my question is: have you ever gotten your mother or father to play games and if so what exact games do they like. I know, random but I'd like to show that there is a lot more to gaming than just senseless murder

My dad was the one that introduced me to video games. Some of my earliest memorys are of us playing Rise of the Triad and Doom on a computer.

But for your mother: What about Portal series, Toki Tori or Minecraft.

I used to play a lot of PS1/PS2 games with my Dad when I was younger and it eventually became him playing them while I waited for him to finish. He's not played anything in the last ~6 years though and has never played anything serious on PC.

The closest either of my parents ever got to playing video games was my dad playing Spider Solitaire.

And he says it's because 'that game came with the computer, so it's not bad for it. If you install games on the computer, those are what cause problems.'

I've given up since then.

Saying that If he was retired and wanted toget into video games i would probably recommend something more sensible and stratergy based like a game from the total war series.

My dad was the one who got me into video games.

Got awesome memories of playing Unreal Tournament against him, or watching him play Far Cry and Doom. Still the only person I know who managed to park a car vertically up against a tree in Far Cry. As I've gotten older he has stopped playing as much, but did say he would join in a Unreal LAN match with my mates, which would be pretty cool. Mainly plays arcade game emulators now like Galaga and such.

Oh, and he still remember every Wolfenstein 3D cheat code of the top of his head, which just amazes me.

Mum however, just plays Solitaire and similar on his phone constantly, she has never really cared much for it. Probably would be easier to start on simpler iOS/Android games first.
