So I already have a USB that contains Windows 7 ISO on it . What should I do next ? Should I wipe the disk 0 ( 496 GB ) or should I jump into BIOS then select Boot from uSB ? Would that wipe the drive as well ?

What are the next steps ?

After selecting the drive, the setup starts so it's waiting :P

Then after the setup finishes, it'll reboot, where it asks for user name, configuration, OS KEY (if that's your worry)

Pretty much looks like this (this is in a VM, don't be fooled by the window :P):

OK, keep in mind that that site might take some time to load depending on the location.

So you mean like fullscreen switching to different colors?

It's not a back up, they just called the ISO burning a "back up".

Click on USB.

Next step, slecting USB drive:

Select the USB drive and select "Begin Copying"

It'll start to copy the iso files and create a bootable sector after that.

The program will look like this during and after the process:

OK, what's the USB drive format and in what port is it plugged? (don't bother to boot it, if it can't create a boot sector it's very probable that it isn't going to work)

JIC, do you have a spare USB drive?

Yeah , so here's the run down after the incident with rufus , I plugged it back into my laptop , was going to delete everything manually but then thought maybe it might still have some files left , so I went into the CMd , select the drive then clean it . I panicked , then I get back into CMd , typed create partition primary , then typed format fs=fat 32 then the drive is normal again .

No , I don't have a spare one ... Also , the ISO is from TheProfosist . I'm also tagging in JefferyD90

As I'm reading the online help , I noticed that it said : Can I use my newly created USB drive to install Windows on someone else's computer?

No. The Windows ISO file on the USB drive is only intended to be used to install Windows on the licensed user’s own computer.

Should I be woried ? Because my desktop already has Windows 7 .

Also , the reason I wanted to do a reinstall of Windows 7 is that I think i started seeing unfamiliar ads all over my screen when I browsed the internet , even on Linus Tech Tips , it would show up as PUP Dragon Branch ads and other scam , virus ads . I tried running 3 virus and malware scans 3 times but it still won't get rid of the ads .

And a side note , My father took the desktop to reinstall Windows 7 so I have no idea if that windows 7 is legit or not ...

Now that's when I ask you are you performing an Installation or REinstallation? Little BIG difference.

If you're installing with a new W7 key, you can use this tool or rufus method (but drive MUST be bootable)

That thing you've found applies for reinstallations, not installations. (Still, the drive must be bootable)

Cleared that up, You'd try to reformat that drive with disk manager (reformat and check if you didn't create a partition by accident, this can be an annoying issue on USB drives), if it still being not bootable, you're going to need a new drive...

I think it is reinstallation because the deasktop already has Win7 running

I did typed create a partition ... Because I panicked when it cleared everything on my USB and I don't know how to reverse it ... The USB after I cleaned it is precisely 8GB free ... Aw crap . Does this mean I have to get a new USB ?

Now this is what I got.

1. Download powerISO.

2. Use powerISO to create a bootable USB drive.

3. Plug in the USB and restart.

4. Select the device you want to boot from the boot manger in BIOS ( you click f8 or f12 to get into boot manger and it can vary depending on you MB )

5. Install windows regularly and you can wipe, delete, make partitions during the installation process.

6. You're good until you want to format the USB drive then you will need to use diskpart.
