How much can i overclock 4790K with the H100i GTX?

 

Note: First build. Going to build it soon. Have never overclocked before.

Depends on how good the chip is. Read the over clocking guide in my SIG and see how it goes.

I'd recommend on starting with a slight bump first, about 4.3GHZ and if it's not crashing and not causing any problems just gradually bump it up till it's limits. The key is having a balance of clockspeed and voltage.

My brother OC'd it to 4.8Ghz

With a Noctua NH-D15

He got an Asus mobo and it did the OC with Asus suite, he didnt have to do much.......

as much as your CPU will be able to overclock...it depends on the quality of the chip you get.

I can achieve 4.8GHz @ 1.225v stable. BTW I love Noctua :D

My 4790k can run comfortably at 4.8 GHZ and 1.31v. It's watercooled and even at this overclok and voltage it never goes into the 70's. I use a custom loop now but when I first built my current rig it had an h100i. The H100i did a pretty great job of cooling so I doubt your temps will limit you unless your pumping some crazy voltage.

What's your idle/load temps on that 4790k? Mine can run intel xtu 5GHz @ 1.335v. I stopped the test because the avg was 77c and the max was 86c. If I had better cooling I'd roll at 5 ghz.

The temps are decent.

Idle=around 40c and full load around 60~65 (it is summer here with average room temp around 29C, when A/C is off)

I idle around the 30s c on air @ 4.8ghz and the ambient is 20-22c.

Well I have a custom loop. My idle temps are around 29-32 degrees and my full load temps are in the mid to low 60's. I live in a warm climate where it is never colder than 80 degrees F at any time in the year so I can't get those low idle temps that some do with custom loops.
