I'm looking for headsets specifically for FPS games (CS:GO, BF4, etc.). Although, the only ones that stood out to me were the Astro A40s (can't afford A50s) and the HyperX Cloud. Which one would be better for me?

Would you be open to headphones + microphones?

Also headsets are designed specifically for a certain game, it would be impossible.

My recommendation is to grab some HD 518's and a microphone of your choosing -

The a40 hopefully has good quality it is quite better.

That's pretty much par for the course with vembutech. Every one of his posts just latches on to what others have already said, and it is rarely intelligibile. It feels like spam, but it's not *quite* there (in my opinion anyway)

Hey! New SIgnature!

You have to answer yourself this question first.

How important is voice activation for voice chat?

If you dont intend to use voice activation, and use push to talk, then there is absolutely no need to buy any of the headsets. Buy a separate high end headphone and high end microphone.

If you find that voice activation is a must, then I would say Astro. I had one and used it for a long while, but later ditched it completely since I moved onto high end headphones.

Lol what? That literally made no sense. That means I can't use voice activation on anything else then? Guess all the years I've been using voice activation on my yeti was a lie then.

Had the astro a40s and I'm sorry but you have to be an idiot to buy them, they sound appaling for how much they cost. Glad I got a refund, I'd go with sennheiser if I was you, can get the g4me one for the same price as the 2014 a40s and it blows it away.

I also have Blue Yeti.

The problem with Blue Yeti or any desktop mic I have used so far is that it picks up background noise quite easily if its not right at your face. It would be very annoying for the person on the other end constantly hearing your keyboard clicks along with AC blowing on it.

I also have ModMic, as I hoped this would solve the voice activation issue of turning on when I dont want it to.

ModMic proved to be half successful. It does work fine in most cases, but when ever I give it's wires a shake, it activates voice activation, which the person on the other end often hearing random voice chat activation noise.

Headsets are the only ones that I have found so far to be reliable to voice activation. As none of the hearsets I have come across has had any issue with voice activation. But I hated how they sound, and most of them are closed back, which gets uncomfortable to my ear after a long duration of use due to it making my ears feel hot.

In short, yes you CAN do voice activation on every mic, but in a lot of cases you will annoy the person on the other end, unless you are using it for a phone call or something, which is a constant on voice chat.

HOW ABOUT A USED SENNHEISER G4ME ONE I'M PLANNING ON GETTING ONE SOUNDS LIKE A SENNHEISER HD558 NOTHING BEATS ITS VALUE!

Its pretty good. I have one also. Not that I use it often.

That thing was hard to find (well I could not find it at all) in Hong Kong (where I live), so I had to import it from Singapore...

Well with those headphones i can tell... Most gamers don't go all out when it comes to audio. Like audio Engine A5+ Some $1500 headphones With like a $300 DAC and sound card unless if they listen to music alot.

You probably didn't adjust it right, my mic only picks up when I talk, after a quick adjustment of the noise gate on my stream and on teamspeak and such, never had a problem. Maybe you have a lot of people talking in your background or something?

Its the AC thats doing the most damage for the voice activation in my case. Its sort of far from me, due to lack of desk space / mounting options with said desk, but I live in Hong Kong and space is limited.

It's an old pic of my desk, but it shows where the mic is located.

Ahhhhh ok I see, that's pretty far away and makes sense why it would be that way. You should really buy a arm and pop filter and position it by your mouth, and mess with the noise gate. Completely eliminates the problem with that.

Was trying to get one, but it seems like I cant find one that will clamp onto my weird desk.

Edges are "fenced" unlike most other desks, and all the arms I have seen are designed for "flat edged" desks (well, aka regular. LoL).
