Hi to all the awsome people out there, I've been stuck on this for a while and I want to know what will be the best gpu for 1080p gaming. I'm talking about games from gta v on ultra settings with full AA on. I know you can't future proof but I want to buy a gpu that will last me atleast 3 years and hopefully more. But yeah I'm not looking to upgrade my monitor anytime soon so I'm sticking to 1080p but I want the best experience I can get for it so all suggestions are most welcome.

GTX 960 4GB or 280X OC

//edit if money is no object, then the best GPU available. GTX 980 ti or GTX Titan X

That 280x will outperform any 960.

My choice for the best mid end 1080p card is a GTX 970. You'll run most games Max settings with AA turn down a little bit and a few other settings that you couldn't notice in a side by side experience. It'll easily get you over 60fps in the latest AAA games for years to come.

No. GTA v for example a 980Ti at 1080p maxxed out with AA and everything gets a average 60fps. Look up SloppyWetBlow on YouTube. What are the rest of your specs? Edited by DarkBlade2117

GTX 970 for R9 390

I would personally get something like a GTX 960, wait until Pascal comes out, and then buy the Pascal GTX 970 equivalent. You should be able to sell the GTX 960 for a reasonable price.

This is with MSAA and FXAA. GTA V isnt to greatly optimized. It's decent but could be way better.

Avoid AMD. At 1080p AMD's DX11 driver overhead will stop you from fully utilizing the GPU.

970+

I'm just adding that price is not a issue so any suggestions are welcome

980 ti

One day, a game will come out that the 980 ti can't run with Max Settings. So the 980 Ti is the only choice. GL

see the only problem is that in South Africa (where I come from) all cards cost the same so amd is not cheaper as what it is by you guys ... so at the end of the day it costs a 280x around $500 by us so that is quite a big point to look at and none of the sites you advised deliver to SA
