Hello guys,

Yet another topic about my GPU( GTX 660) since I can't seem to find the problem.

When I play GTA V it crashes at random moments and tells my that my drivers stopped working. I tried multiple things nothing worked.

Today I decided to test GTA with another GPU the Radeon HD 6450. The game didn't crash for an hour and I saw that my CPU usage was very low , between 50-67% sometimes 73 but never higher. I then decided to use my GTX 660 agian with the same setings as the HD 6450 And when I launched the game my CPU was using in the 90% and never went down. And I know that it was in the 80 to 100% before with higer settings but it seems to be the same on lowest settings and lowest resolution.

Does anyone know what cause my CPU to be at 100% all the time ingame? Is my GPU really dead or can it be the drivers? Would reinstalling Windows help ?

Specs:

CPU: i3 -4160

RAM: 8 GB kingston fury (1dimm)

SSD: 120GB kingston fury (game on this ssd) 120Gb kingston 3k (OS on this one)

GPU: MSI gtx 660 gaming

PSU: EVGA 850wat powernova

In something like Speedfan you could see how much every core is doing, maybe you can take a look there?

The CPU needs to work harder with the 660 because it's a more powerfull GPU, so the cpu has to keep it busy to supply more fps.

So if I set a max FPS would fix the cpu usage ?

Yeah it should, but I don't see a problem unless temps are high.

Well GTA V crashes everytime saying my drivers stopped, and when that happens my cpu is around 100% or even just 100%, When I used the Hd 6450 and had 50-60% I had no crashes at all, so I think that my high CPU usage is the cause of this problem

Can you see per CPU core performance with that?

Your cpu usage changes because it is more or less bottlenecked maybe

the results, forgot to take a picture at the same time for my thread 3,4 I got one but was a little after I closed GTA V so just look at the start of the graph

but i also see that my GPU usage never exceeds 50 does this mean that if I get an i5 I would even get better performance ?
