Internet Speed Issues

Go to solution Solved by Altecice,

i download 7 MB/s, but yesterday i downloaded at 10+ MB/s

This is totally normal. Torrenting is P2P meaning it reply's on other peers ( seeders ) for the download speed. You will almost never get maximum speed unless its a very popular torrent.

As for things like Steam/Origin, you will be throttled by their servers to a more suitable speed as they want to load balance across everyone downloading (so somebody doesn't hog all the speed).

Your ISP is probably being a asshole and slowing you down when you download, but not when you do a speed test.

But when i downloaded Garry's Mod yesterday on steam, my download speed was 10 mbps, and today when i downloaded a game it only reached 7 mbps and no more, on uTorrent was the same, it downloaded at 10+ mbps, and now only on 7 mbps. :(

Hello guys, I have an issue with my internet. On speedtest.net internet speeds are very fast like here:

-snip-

But when i download something like from uTorrent, Steam or Origin, I get maximum speed of 7 mbps, what i need to do to fix this issue?

Any help is appreciated. :)

Wow, isp is being an asshole or are you saying that you only dowload 7Mbit/s or 7MByte/s

90Mbit/s is about 11MBytes/s

I suppose you are thinking MBps. With that said, you will never get your full speed. Also by your latency I think you are using Wi-Fi. Try cable, your speed might go up, it's a possibility. On torrents, it depends on how many seeds there are (more seeds -> higher dl speed), and on Steam and Origin it depends on their server load. You won't be always able to get max speed. Don't acknowledge publicly that you are downloading torrents.

Torrent speed can vary a lot. Steam is probably a bit overloaded because of the summer sales. Origin I have no idea... probably their servers are just bad? :P

well then you are only missing a few Mb/s, that is quite normal, different loads on the network at different times. Also servers are different.

Yeah, maybe. I'll try next day or something, if it won't go back to 10 MB/s, then it is something wrong.

May not be the case. I had 65/20 and never got 8+ MBps, most I got on steam was 7.3 iirc, on average about 6 MBps. Also, you can check how much your ISP is throttling you.
