what else you want to know? he picked obviously 2 boards that meet's his requierement in his price range, and he wants to know which is a better choice...we don't need to know anything else...it's not like he would have picked Am3+ motherboards...now THIS would have raised some concerns and we would want to know more...but Z97 boards...anyways.

yea my fault. I dont know how to set up a poll lol

it's useless to do so...MSI will win...gigabyte boards have the crappiest UEFI and the customer support there is rediculous...this forum is well informed, we don't recommend gigabyte boards for the most part...unless very very cheap B85 and shit like that.

For Z97 go MSI or Asus (not ROG...the ugly goldish ones like the Z97-A and other cheap Asus are good...but they cost the same as MSI gaming 5, that's why the MSI gaming boards gets recommended a lot they are flawless motherboards.)

I'm going to play the devils advocate here and say gigabyte. Unless it's been fixed the gigabyte gaming 5 was one of only two z97 motherboards that supported booting from a M.2x4 ssd. (like an xp941) If you're not interested in a blindingly fast boot disk then the MSi is probably the better alternative.

i'd rather have CPU fan and system fans controls rather than that option ;)

10 second boot times? but yeah I can see your point, merely providing an alternative opinion. I run an Asus E-WS board, so I've got the best of both worlds, compatibility, and a decent UEFi interface.

i have a decent SSD (not even the fastest) and my machine with windows 8 64bits (fast boot enabled) boot under 12 seconds...no kidding...11.something...including Msi splash screen and all. :)

I think it was more a matter of preference. I'm an old fart with no touch screen, so I just prefer the lesser functionality of win 7.

lol, windows seems to have a 50% success rate, every other generation they get it almost right.....especially after the first service pack or two.

well..Windows 8 perform better when it comes to gaming than windows 7...and once you've set it up to boot to the desktop and installed a windows start menu on it it's perfectly fine...i'm used to windows 8 and it's better than win 7 (which i also own) so i'm very happy with that. :)
