Has anyone noticed that in the dota 2 source 2 beta that dota is using more cores than before?

Not really, I've always just gotten great performance from it.

What I have noticed is that the new way maps are rendered, and the way light interacts with terrain can mean some modded game modes can get really laggy during certain events. So, keep that in mind.

Other than that though, I've not seen many issues, or any real performance increases.

Really I remember dota just using about 1-2 cores at most and now im going from 3-6 averaging about 5 most of the time in source 2. Also there seems to be a nice performance increase.

Isn't that a good thing - that it's distributing the workload more evenly across your processor?

I don't play Dota 2 but I'm just not sure whether you phrased your question as a positive or negative remark.

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.

Buggy as hell though.  At launch you couldn't see invis units even with detection, you could dupe items with illusion heroes.  Shouldn't play any real games on it, just test out the custom games and do lobby bot games to find some bugs.  Don't know why Valve is even bothering trying to get ranked games working.
