Posted June 18, 2015 Depends on the pricing, I've not looked at 390x pricing, and 290xs cost as much as 970s these days. For 1080p I'd be inclined to say get the 970, unless either the 290x is a good chunk cheaper or the 390x costs the same. Posted June 18, 2015 290x, (whats your psu, and do you plan on xfiring later on?) two 290x's would be near 600 watts, so if you don't have a psu that is +- 850 watts, I would go sli 970's (if you ever want to sli / xfire later on.
