windows takes up about 16-20 gb Id say go with 64gb if your not installing games or huge programs.

I would go for a 128gb so you can just load all the programs you use a lot as well as your OS. That way you will still have some space left in your SSD. Because If you get a 64gb one there is a bigger chance for your SSD to be capped out faster.

A 120-128gb ssd is fine if you don't plan on putting all your games on your boot drive.

I personally prefer using SSD's as a caching option for a larger drive. All the benefits of a SSD for your most used programs as well as the large amount of storage that a HDD offers.

I'm currently using 2 1Tb hybrid SSD's in raid 0 and you could barely pick it from having a single SSD

Hmm, that's interesting. What kind of feats of speed are your drives exhibiting?

I'd say go for a 120GB SSD, it has enough space for windows (and all the updates) plus all the programs that you want.

AMD 5800X | Gigabyte Aorus Master | EVGA 2060 KO Ultra | Define 7 || Blade Server: Intel 3570k | GD65 | Corsair C70 | 13TB

For commonly used programs and games I'm getting 220MB/s, for anything that isn't in the drives cache it performs the same as 2 7200rpm 2.5 inch drives. So maybe an exaggeration to say it's as fast as an SSD, but the difference isn't really noticeable unless your benching, but considering I'm getting 2Tb of storage and them speeds for what costs the same as a 256Gb SSD I'ld say it's worth it

I was interested because I might do it myself for an extra setup or for a friend who doesn't want to hassle with multiple drives and wants a fast system.

Do you have any examples of how quickly you can open heavier loading programs like Adobe or Autodesk Maya?

Not on me sorry, I'm on a uni computer right now. Boot times are sub 8 seconds though if that's any indicator for you?

That depends. Windows 8 or 7?
