making custom cables for ax860

hey guys,

 

i'm looking to make custom cables for my psu this summer and i'm in the process of acquiring the different parts.

 

i can use the molex crimper at my work (it's the original red crimping tool)

i have found wire, pins and the housings at the component sides.

i'm not set on sleeving yet (i just have to make up my mind on that one...)

 

but the point is, what kind of connectors are used at the psu side, i have found 10 pin and 18 pin connectors over at e22, but i don't know if they are compatible and also i need 6 and 8 pin connectors (don't know if pcie or eps connectors fit there)

 

also i don't want to take the stock cables apart, for testing and warranty reasons.

 

i hope some of the modders here can help me

you need to use exactly the ones that come on AX860 cable sets

does anyone know if i would be able to buy the housings themselves somewhere or if i have to get premade cables just for the housings? (i want to make custom length cables, otherwise i would already have ordered a cablemod set )

if you're wanting custom cables, your best/only bet is the Corsair sleeved ones or those made from boutiques like CableMod / ModGuru etc.

i think i have found compatible connectors, i checked it with a picture of the ax860. maybe someone can verify

For your PSU side it uses regular ATX connectors which is the same for the 24 pin, PCI-E, EPS(CPU) connectors.
