New thermal paste comparison table

I've noticed that every once in a while someone asks about thermal paste and...the typical argument starts. Found a new article by der8auer, the record beating overclocker, he did his own experiments and i don't know who has moral authority over this subject if not him so, i leave the link:

Just wanted to share it cause i thought it's time to put it to rest, TIM is not gonna change much and any mid-high end will do it. Specifically he put 10ªK Delta and under as TIMs that do well in performance, he recomended considering best of the bunch and best value (within the high performing ones) So, AS5 is still in the high performers....but barely, and in the top you got the liquid metal TIMs, 2 Thermal Grizzly pastes that kick fucking ASS!!! GC-extreme, you have been dethroned...by 0,31 degrees. Well i'm happy that the paste i bought because we don't get much variety in Chile, Zalman STG2. beated MX-4!!!

Anyway, only people thinking on doing some seriuos OC should be talking about this, for 95% of the people the argument is gone and changed into, get something thats not shit,,,but if you REALLY wanna squeeze that last drop of performance, the standard may be anything under 9ªK.

unless he used a machine to apply the thermal paste at the exact quantity and layer thickness most of those are within margin or error

it doesnt matter if your thermometer is accurate to .000001 degrees if your application method is inconsistent

 

also every thermal paste has a different viscosity and adhesion and surface tension which means that even applying them with the same amount they will spread differently on the CPU

 

Unless you apply a paste multiple times and take the average of those temps, I wouldn't consider 0.3 degrees a clear win

I would have liked to see Indigo Xtreme XS in the line up. It is a killer TIM but expensive.

I want to see a test where they do 10 tests for each thermal paste, and give us min, max, and average, or just give us all 10 data points.  I think that would be a much more fair comparison.

This and the test over at Tom's shows that GC-Extreme performs really well but people do not seem to pay attention to this paste.

i know, i meant the same thing, thats sarcasm. And the point of something like this is well, mostly for extreme OCers but it's good to know the stuff you got is good quality if you are planning on OCing the crap out of your chip

I've been using it for years now, by far my favorite!  I recommend it quite a bit.

 

I do want to try that Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut stuff though.

He also makes Ln2 Pots for memory + GPU's and CPU's as well, really knows his stuff and has been one of the best overclockers in the world for quite some time now.

If you want that level of performance...it's not coming easy, i wouldn't consider them unless i was delidding which is not happening anytime soon.

Just saying but amazon recomends me GC-Extreme to me ALL the time, must be in their top 5 sellers
