Hello folks, I hope this is going to be the appropriate sub-forum to post in...

I own a Samsung Xpress C420W printer which is capable of connecting to your network through wifi. And untill yesterday, I had no issues at all but then I tried printing something from my laptop and I encountered a problem I simply do not understand:

The printer is connected to my router via Wifi and shows up as an attached device in my router's UI with the correct IP and everything. I can print from my personal computer, my girlfriends computer, and my htpc. All of those have wired connections to a switch, which is then connected to the router (my router only has one gigabit ethernet port, therefore the switch). I did not need to install any driver or software, all PCs (2 Windows 7, one Windows 8.1) just found the printer in the network and let me select it.

My Laptop on the other hand, is connected to the router via wifi and does simply not find the printer. I can access my routers UI on the laptop, and the router still shows the printer's IP and that it is connected, but I cannot connect to the web interface of the router on my laptop even though it works on all the wired connections (the web interface shows you printer status and toner supply, etc.). When I connect my laptop to the router via an ethernet cable, it finds the printer and I can use it, but not when I am connected to the router through wifi.

Does anyone here have experience with this? Or any Idea what it might be?

I tried all the software on Samsungs support site, firmware is the latest.

EDIT: Found the solution!

My router per default does not allow wifi devices in the network to communicate with each other. I had to go to my wifi>security settings within the router UI and change that setting, now everything works fine. Today I learned ...

Try firmware update on the the printer, reset the router to factory default(Firmware update?), reinstall the printer-drivers.

Is the correct printer chosen/set as default on the list shown when you try to print something?

But what i think might be the case is that you chose that the network was a "public network" instead of "home network". Meaning if you have set the WiFi as a public network on the laptop you can't view any devices on the network.

Check if it's set as public, if it is.. Then change it :)

Firmware on both printer and router are up-to date, It is configured as home network as well. When I try to print something, the printer does not even show up as an option, because the laptop simply does not "find" the printer as in, it does not show up anywhere. When I try to install the driver from samsung, it asks to connect to the printer during installation and searches the network for the printer (and does not find anything). I connected the laptop to the printer via USB once to have it install the printer drivers and that works, but as soon as I disconnected the USB connection, the printer was gone. It will show up as an option to print but says the printer is offline because it tries to find the usb connection.

Unfortunately I have no other wifi-device here with windows on it to try and replicate the issue :/

Laptop is using windows 8.1 btw
