I have a western digital caviar blue and it boots to windows 8.1 in about 1 second (2.3) without fast boot. Why do people tell me that HDD's are so slow!! how much faster could a ssd be anyways...

anyways why would you want it faster?

Does it really boot in that amount of time or are you exaggerating?

whoah wait what?

a hdd cant load windows that fast. get to the log in screen MAYBE, but after that it delays. from the mobo flash, if i didnt have a password I could launch chrome and start USING it in sub 5 seconds with my ssd. my brothers hard drive? takes atleast 10 seconds to get though all the windows log in on a hard drive. another 15 or so before you can actually use chrome

It doesn't.

You're supposed to start counting from the moment you press the power button, not the moment you see the windows logo.

And you're supposed to stop counting when the desktop is done loading, not when you see "welcome".

Also your PC should not be in sleep or hibernate.

And finally windows 8 does not fully shut down when you press the shut down button.

dus dat mean my pc nevur turns off

Don't get all conspiracy about it. It's just a way to allow the system to boot faster. Idea to put Enderman's claim to the test - unplug the PC and discharge the system by hitting the power button. Plug it back in and start the system up.

Can you upload the video and show it here?

-snip-

Anyway, there are people who have systems that can compare to slower SSDs with HDD. And with other OS' like Linux the cap between drives in terms of boot times is smaller. But who does get SSD just for boot times? I got it for general speed with OS and some software. And will get another bigger one someday to even further improve that.

Win8 boots very quickly. How quickly does it shut down is the true test.

Is it perhaps...

a. A SSHD

b. Dex+10

c. Magic

d. An SSD in disguise?

Tip to those that are new on LTT forum- quote a post so that the person you are quoting gets a notification, otherwise they'll have no idea that you did. You can also use a tag such as @Ryoutarou97 (replace my username with anyone's. You should get a dropdown after you type the "@")to send a notification, but quoting is preferable.

Feel free to PM me about absolutely anything be it tech, math, literature, etc. I'll try my best to help. I'm currently looking for a cheap used build for around $25 to set up as a home server if anyone is selling.

If you are a native speaker please use proper English if you can. Punctuation, capitalization, and spelling are as important to making your message readable as proper night theme formatting is.

My build is fully operational, but won't be posted until after I get a GPU in it and the case arted up.
