Intel Xeon E3-1230v3 question??

a guy told me that Intel Xeon E3-1230v3 cpu is a i7 cpu but its unoverclockable... i mean can i use it in a gaming rig?? is that xeon cpu not for server??

Its not overclock-able and has no on board graphics. It also has a few workstation/server features like ECC RAM support.

 

There's no reason you couldn't use it for gaming though. Plenty of motherboards support it and it's a perfectly capable processor and if you're gaming you're not going to be using the on board graphics anyway!

For the last time, please just buy an i7 4770K and be done with it.

If you're not going to be running a server/workstation set up just buy an i7 4770k. It'll be overclockable and better for games.

It's a server cpu. Yes, you can use it for gaming. It's exactly what that guy told you.

Why not just get a 4670k for gaming?

The 4770 is the Non-OC version of the 4770k. 

 

The 1230v3 has a slightly lower clock and boost speed.

 

Honestly though, you don't need 10 different topics asking "Is this cpu good for gaming?"  Just grab a 4770k and be done with it,  it'll do everything you want.

 i will grab 3930k or 4930k. i just asking about the xeon cpus becuze they r intresting...
