Streacom F8C Alpha Fanless Chassis [Devil's canyon - z97 AsRock - Gskill - picoPsu]

Vebb

Streacom F1CB EVO  Fractal Node 304 Build

Parts :

  • Case:

Streacom F1CB WS EVO Chassis

Fractal Design Node 304 (Sort)

  • Cooler:

Noctua NH-L9i

+ Noctua NF-A4x10 FLX 40mm

Be-Quiet Dark Rock 3

  • Motherboard:

ASRock Z97E-ITX/ac

  • Ram:

G.Skill Ares DDR3 F3-2400C11D-16GAB

  • Prosessor:

Intel Core i7 4790S

  • GPU:

NVIDIA GTX 960 OC Short Version by Gigabyte

  • PSU:

Pico-Box Z2-ATX-200 with AC-DC 12V 12.5A

(The Pico PSU had too small capacitors and the pc ran unstable all the time. The psu for the pico and the cables to the pico started to get soggy after some stresstesting. I would not reccomend using the pico for a 65 Watt CPU, maybe 35 Watts is okey. )

Cooler Master V850 850W

  • Storage:

HyperX SSD — SH100S3 120GB

Intention: Building the "perfect" rig for the casual student.

Status: Finished

Warning: All photos were taken with a potato, fucous works 50% of the time.

I can retake photos if wanted, but as this is kind of a stock build I didn't bother.

YES, finally an other fanless build! I like it.

Why don't you use a case with heat sinks on both sites and use a descrete GPU as well?

This build is not only about fanless, its also about the small formfactor, light weight and low TDP :)

A GPU draws too much current for the PSU in this build, and the only real option is Gtx 750ti, which is not worth the money.

I do not own any 1080p monitors and a 750ti only handles 1080p when it comes to gaming.

This build is not intended for gaming.

If you are not aiming for a high power machine, this build is totally fine. The heat sinks looks a bit smal for me for 65W (the specified TDP of 95 W is only with additional airflow), but you will hardly push the CPU to 100% for en extended period of time. So it's OK.

Mineral oil and 40 kg aluminium heat sinks are a perfect combination: 73 cores and a Titan X, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Oil
