Aftermarket cards usually run cooler and are quieter, but the reference is still really good.

DEY ARE SO SEXI YES PLS DO IT WHO CARES ABOUT TEMPS LET EM CATCH ON FIRE AS LONG AS DEY CAN BE SEXY

If you don't mind higher GPU temps.... Then its a fine card.

Thanks guys, 970 reference here i come!

I spent 50$ more on mine when they first hit the shelves FUCK YEA THEY ARE WORTH IT

Yeah, I'm willing to spend an extra $50. Non-reference is $330 while the reference is $380.

If noise and lack of real overclocking potential is fine, then yea it's a decent card. Sexy as hell and you could easily do a 0db mode.

Just wondering how loud do they get under load?

mine is very quiet even when folding. I tend to make the fan profile a bit more aggressive when folding, but it's still quiet.

Do you know anything you can compare it to? like a fridge or PS4?

Not terribly loud, but going to a 970 with 0db, I can definitely tell it was the largest source of noise in my case, in front of my case fans (AF120s).

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

No, the cool looking part of the card is the bottom and it's face down towards your PSU, so even with a window you're still not seeing it. A Gigabyte G1 Gaming is a way better GPU and costs a lot less too.

I have an itx case that has the card facing me. In an atx case with a window, you get that nice lit logo. Plus I plan to hang all of my gpus on the wall once I got a respectable collection.

I'd just buy a broken one off ebay in 3 years and put that on the wall then. Well, if not for the itx case, I can understand buying it then.

Pros:

1. Looks cool

2. Vents heat out of your case.

Cons:

1. Runs hotter than every non reference cooler out there.

2. Loud. Not jet engine loud like a 290x reference, but still loud as hell under load.

3. It doesn't come overclocked at all, and has little overclocking headroom. It barely keeps the card sufficiently cool at stock speeds, nevermind overclocked

4. Expensive. Despite coming with no overclock, little overclocking headroom, and running hotter than almost every other 970 out there, the card is just about the most expensive 970 there is.

5. Its Nvidia, which means you are supporting a company that has business practices that come pretty close to being flat out evil.

All of that's right, except the loud and temps part. Mine stays under 75 while folding without my more aggressive fan curve. Even with my aggressive fan curve it's one of the quietest reference coolers I've had. It's not like the titan x. Reason being it's pretty low power/heat.

I had a reference 970. In gaming it quickly shot up to 80-82C using the default fan curve and stayed there, and it was easily the loudest noise coming from my case. If I set a more aggressive custom fan curve it would drop the temps a few degrees to maybe 76-77, with even more noise.

Granted I had a corsair 450D, which is a pretty open case so that might have affected the noise level, but all in all I would call the cooling and noise level pretty horrible compared to non reference models.

But again it did look really cool through my side panel window.

The looks are definitely worth it, if you have no red in your system, and you have side panels! I've  never had one tho.. so idk :/
