Hard Drive question?

shadyss01

What would happen if I changed my OS from windows 8.1 to windows 7? Would all my data on my hard drive be deleted?

Anyone have a good tutorial on how to move OS's and keep your stuff on your hard drive?

You can have another partition and save everything you want there. After that you just reformat the partition with the os,install windows and that's it

Now that I got your attention.....

What happens to my hard drive if I change my OS?

I have windows 8.1 enterprise trial and it's about up soon and I was going to buy windows 7 (dgaf if you get better performance, I hate win 8)

How do I revert from windows 8.1 to windows 7 and keep my stuff on my hard drive intact?

When reinstalling windows it formats the hard drive, so all data on it will be lost.

Your best bet would get a 2nd hard drive that is a little larger than the amount of space used up by all the stuff you wanna keep then copy all that to it, then install windows on the main drive and move the stuff back.

All files on that drive will be lost. Downgrade and saving files isn't possible. With upgrade it would be.
