No I wouldn't put a 3 slot gpu in a case that is not even black.

It's normal for most newer cards to. Thankfully my 7950 and 480 don't because of a rigidity plate of sorts.

If it has a backplate it should be fine. My old GTX 460 didn't have one and you could see the PCB bend from a mile away. keep in mind that PCI-e was never designed to handle graphics cards as heavy as they are now so some cards might sag a bit but as long as its not moving around too much it's fine.
