Is a 780 worth $250?

How much is a 780 worth nowadays? I got my 760 new for like 265 bucks. (2 years back) Id think a 780 would be a steal at 250.

2 years ago, yeah, it would be a steal. Now, It's probably worth around 200-210. Once you get 250 you might as well get a new card like a 290x or 970 which is just a little bit more.

Around 200, depending on the model. 6GB variations can go for 300+, since they are still okay CUDA cards, and the only thing bigger than them is Titan Black / Titan X in terms of memory pool.

 

I wouldn't pay 250+ for it, even in the EU where the 970 might start from 320+ for the reference / crappy cooler versions, since the R9 290 is being sold at ~260 or so new.

I don't think $250 is that bad if it's not TOO old. My 770 was $237 but the 780's at that point were $280-300. Maybe you can talk him down a tad to $225.

Its a decent deal, although its hard to know how long Nvidia will support Kepler. If any more games like Cars or Witcher 3 release where Kepler is kneecapped, you might have been better off with AMD or Maxwell in that price range, like a 290 or if you save up some more money, a 970.

I don't think $250 is that bad if it's not TOO old. My 770 was $237 but the 780's at that point were $280-300. Maybe you can talk him down a tad to $225.

 

$225 is pretty low, 780's are going anywhere from 250-320 depending on the model.

But it's not the Ti version so why not just get the 970 then ? That's why it's hard to sell the GTX 780 vs selling a GTX 770. You get more Vram in the 770 and it's a full 4 Gb. So you could afford a used GTX 770 for 100% or buy that 780 for $250. Seems like you got a lot of options though.

 

My GTX 770 was only like 4 months old though...which made me happy...it looked virtually un-used.
