Hey everybody i am about to build my first pc but i am really scared coz :-

1. I do not know what apps you guys use to monitor temps under stress (afterburner?)

2. I do not know where to place the cabinet fans in what order (inward on front and down and outward on top and back?)

3. I am still scared to apply the thermal paste, how much chances are there that i will wreck something?

4. And of course, is 212 my best choice?

HWMonitor

rear top will be exhaust, front will be intakes

you only need a pea size of thermal and just use the bottom of the cooler to spread the thermal paste

yes

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

1. HWMONITOR is a good option.

2.  Front bottom are intake, as you move your way back up up switch to exhaust.

3. Pretty slim, if you follow a video.  Keep in mind most coolers have thermal paste pre-installed so you shouldn't need to apply on your first run.

4.  212 is a good choice.  What is your budget?  If you don't want to spend a lot on a cooler and don't plan on extreme overclocks yes it is a good solid choice.

Tempeture monitor - Open Hardware Monitor

Fans can really go any direction you want as long as they aren't blowing directly at each other, thats just dumb.

Thermal paste is just gonna be a grain of rice - sized line down the middle and the heatsink will spread it when it squishes

The Coolermaster hyper 212 is a cheap favorite around here, I have never had one but I do like the performance of tower coolers

Current: R2600X@4.0GHz\\ Corsair Air 280x \\ RTX 2070 \\ 16GB DDR3 2666 \\ 1KW EVGA Supernova\\ Asus B450 TUF

1. I use Speccy, but HWmonitor works.

2. The fans in the front should be blowing air into the case and the case on the back should be pushing air out of the back. The tops and back is up to you.

3. This should help with applying thermal paste:

4. The 212 is a great CPU cooler providing you have enough space for it to fit. It's big, 159 mm to be exact.

Wrong tutorial.

This is the right one:

pc specs: 4 function calculator / 8 digit lcd display / colored numeric and function buttons

1. RealTemp

2. Rear exaust and front intake generally

3. Not enough to completely cover, just enough to transfer heat so not too much not too little

4. Be Quiet! Pure Rock is better

  1. Afterburner is nice because it gives you so many graphs for so many different metrics all in one place that you can re-order however you want. Really I don't think I've ever been told to avoid a specific temperature monitoring program before, so I assume they all basically work.
  2. It's hard to say exactly where to put fans without experimenting with your case myself, but try to envision how air is going to flow. I set up mine as though my PC is a wind tunnel, taking in air from the front panel intakes and exhausting it through the rear and top while going over the CPU and GPU. There's probably some trial and error involved, and try to keep big masses of cables tucked behind the motherboard tray if possible.
  3. The risk of applying thermal compound incorrectly is simply that the CPU will get too hot. If so, stop the stress test, turn off the machine, clean off the thermal compound and try again. Linus has posted some excellent demonstrations of it in his Build Guide videos.
  4. The Hyper 212 EVO is still pretty hard to beat for it's price.
