Is 8gb not enough anymore?

Hey guys,

 

I was playing GTA 5 and i kept getting notifications that i was running out of memory, turns out, gta 5 uses ~6gb of ram!

Well, looks like i need to go buy some ram

No it's a problem with just GTA V where the longer the game is open the more ram it takes up and it's supposed to be getting patched soon. (Allthough 16gb wouldn't hurt).

I have been playing fine on 8gb of ram.. 

 

but 8gb is borderline now, 16gb is  recommended so that you never have to worry

8GB is fine, it's probably a memory leak or something. Though it doesn't hurt to have 16GB.

Pretty borderline, I wouldn't recommend 8gb's to new builds anymore.

How much stuff do you want open at the same time? 1 thing is fine but 1 or 2 things and a game then you are pushing it buddy! ;P

The only things i had open was firefox, chrome, and gta, and even after closing chrome it was still barley enough

As for OP, GTA V currently had a memory leak, that's why you're running out of ram.

Until it is patched, it really doesn't matter how much memory you have, as eventually the memory leak in GTA V will eat it all.

 

Once the memory leak is patched 8 GB should be fine for any CURRENT game, provided you are somewhat reasonable with your background tasks. All bets are off on future games, though.
