Hello i just purchased a acer predator xb270hu monitor and my plan is to fully utilize the capabilities of the monitor that means higher than 1080p

unfortunately my gfx cannot handle that specially on new games  (currently have 680gtx)

im between 970sli or 980ti  the rumors of dx12 and vram co-op put the 970sli back in the competition for me for 1080p+

Just a single 970 would be alight for 1080p! What resolution specificity are you going to be running? Cause a single 980 would be better than dual 970 compatibility wise and I believe it will be a while till 980ti!

-snip-

The 980 Ti is not out yet, we don't know how well it performs

As this is a 1440p, 144Hz monitor, you want a lot of horse power.

I am not even sure if SLI 970 is good enough for that :/

The 980 Ti might be a good choice later if it performs very well at that res for its price..

Maybe 1 980 and get a 2nd one later?

Btw, I have 970 SLI and Witcher 3 runs just above 30 40 (40-42) FPS @ 1440p on ULTRA. I haven't played around with the settings much yet.

50-60 fps on High

60-80 fps on Medium

I (myself) couldn't notice much difference in quality on Medium vs Ultra, but not saying no one else will.

GTA V on the other hand it runs at around 80 fps on ULTRA (@ 1440p).

So I would say, if you want 120 fps at 1440p, 970 SLI is not enough for most new games. Since a 980 SLI is not a big performance jump over a 970 SLI, you probably would be looking at a Titan SLI to get close to 120 fps at 1440p.

I might be wrong, but that's my 2 cents! :)

EDIT: Updated the FPS, for some reason is now churning more FPS out!
