Currently looking at the Sapphire R9 290 Vapor-X, or the Asus STRIX GTX 970. Which would run better on Very High settings with x2 MSAA?

970, find a different one, if your Strix has an issue, good luck with getting ahold of Asus.

last i heard AMD drivers were holding GTA 5 a little back? atleast what i saw from Luke's video, based on that knowledge i'd suggest 970, but at what res are you playing? if you set everything high including the advance Draw distance and shadows you'll likely to exceed 3.5 gis, idk may be that'd stutter? i personally don't own one to test it. your choice. although R9 290 will heat up your room more than 970.

Yep, my 970 died Monday... Nothing since rma ticket Tuesday... @CreepersCrawlers found out his 780 died and in like 15-20 minutes after rma ticket he gets to send it out to EVGA Monday...

there is a sale on asus 8gb 290 cards! I'd grab one of those! 

the 970 just leaves a bad taste in my mouth even if the error and flaws in the setup doesnt effect anything, they still lied, its like letting someone get out of jail for free. to keep buying the card.
