Missed the S5's water and dust proofing on the S6? This may be the solution for you. I don't need a water or dust proof smartphone but I know lots of people who do, so this may be a decent option for those who were considering the S5 for it's waterproofing, or just need an overall more rugged version of the S6.


 



A tipster sent us two alleged photos of the unannounced Samsung Galaxy S6 Active. The images showcase the front and the back of the rugged smartphone in black color scheme. 


 


As you can see above, Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is built like a tank. The handset keep the camera and heart rate monitor layout of the regular Galaxy S6, but has its loudspeaker moved to its back.

 

It is all but certain that Samsung Galaxy S6 Active will not offer a fingerprint sensor due to its rugged buttons. This is hardly a surprise as last year’s Samsung Galaxy S5 Active didn’t have the feature either.

 

According to the source of the images, Samsung Galaxy S6 Active will sport the model number SM-G890A. The handset will pack a generous 3,500mAh battery. The latter is significantly larger than the 2,600mAh uint of the SM-G920.

 

Battery capacity aside, we can reasonably expect that Samsung Galaxy S6 Active will keep the same top notch specs as the Galaxy S6. They include 14nm Exynos 7420 SoC, 5.1” QHD Super AMOLED display, 16MP main camera, and 5MP front-facing unit.

I'd get this because of the 3.5 Amp battery. I bet this phone is going to be amazing with battery life. If I were going to buy the S6 I would get this version.

3.5 amp hour. Big difference.

But wow. that'd be awesome. Bigger battery capacity than the Note 4 has.

Why can't Samsung just copy the Xperia Z4? From what I heard it has a pretty high waterproof/dust proof rating without using rubber caps and has microsd. The engineers at Sony really struttin their prowess but too bad the idiots don't sell the phone in the US.

They don't sell it here because there isnt a market for it.

What's there to sell?  Even the Japanese are underwhelmed by what's basically a Z3 with a space heater... errr... Snapdragon 810 built in.  Z4 aside, I'm really not too impressed with the design of the S6 Active.  It looks overwrought, and at best it looks like someone slapped a nerf case on a phone.  At least it'll pack a battery to alleviate any complains of the life, but likely won't be replaceable.
