R9 280 BIOS

Lawliet93

Hi guys, I happen to have a r9 280 from gigabyte, that is voltage locked  (1,25V constantly). Does anybody have a custom BIOS for a r9 280/HD7950, that will help me to unlock the voltage on my GPU. My GPU has been running quite hot (75-80°C, I know, it is perfectly fine, but it's achieving those temperatures at a fan speed of 70-80%), especially, when you look at the performance of the windforce  cooler. My GPU is currently running at a core speed of1150MHz and  the memory is overclocked to 6000MHz + 20% on the power limit , even at stock speeds, the temperatures are always around 75°C. I'm pretty sure, I can achieve those speeds with less voltage. I also plan to change the thermal compound under the heat sink.

There is also a problem with under clocking. The base speed of my GPU is 950MHz, and it boosts all the way up to 1150MHz, but sometimes, it does not happen and the card runs at 950MHz. In that case, I have to disable my overclock in MSI Afterburner, go into the CCC and overclock the GPU there, I have to do it several times (disabling and enabling the overclock in CCC) and sometimes I have to restart my pc.

My specs:

CPU: i5 2500k @ 4,2GHz

MB: gigabyte z68ma-d2h-b3

Ram: Kingston 8GB 1333MHz.

HDD: western digital caviar blue 7200RPM 1TB.

PSU: Seasonic 600W 80%Bronze.

CPU cooler: Cooler master hyper TX3.

P.S.: A guide regarding BIOS flashing would be great.

P.S.2.: My card has a dual BIOS switch, so there are almost no risks with flashing one to a different version.

1.250v isn't a bad voltage to work with... but having the double-bios is the key win to give it a try.

But check here for other 1.3v bios's ppl have found to be unlocked.,...http://www.overclock.net/t/1450456/gigabyte-r9-280x-v2-voltage-lock-bypass-through-bios-mod

I read the first 4 and 4 last pages and a few other threads... http://www.overclock.net/t/1313813/new-bios-update-for-gigabyte-hd7950

I normally go to techpowerup's bios search tool and then google about, usually leading to a forum or a 290 series thread somewhere with user input for help.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

I actually want to do the exact opposite, I would like to decrease my voltage and therefore my temperatures(funny thing, even at the core speed of 1150MHz, there is still headroom for more overclocking), but... the first thing I have to try is to change the thermal compound (I tried that before, but I couldn't get the cooler separated from the PCB) is there a guide for the windforce cooler?
